My computer and my phone
Keep your boards on your computer and use them on your phone too, over your home Wi‑Fi, encrypted. The phone app also keeps its own boards.
You need: Zomello on your computer (Windows or Linux) and the phone app, both on the same Wi‑Fi.
On the computer (once)
- Settings > Phones & tablets > tick Allow access from phones and tablets on this network.
- Let it through the firewall: click Allow through firewall and confirm (Windows asks; Linux asks for your password).
- Settings > Desktop app > Keep running in the tray, so the phone can connect even after you close the window.
On the phone (once)
- On the computer, click Pair a device. A QR code appears.
- Install the computer's certificate on the phone. It's what makes the connection secure. Scan the QR code with the phone's camera app; the page that opens has the download and the steps for Android or iPhone/iPad. (Once per phone.)
- In the Zomello app: Settings > Servers > Scan the QR code on your computer, and scan the same code.
- Allow Zomello to find devices on your network if the phone asks.
Every day
- The phone's menu has This phone and Computer. Tap a board under Computer to open it.
- The app reopens wherever you were. Away from home, it opens the phone's own boards and offers Try again later.
- While the phone is connected, its own boards show in the computer's sidebar under its name.
Good to know
- Moving boards between them: drag a board onto the other place's heading (Moving boards).
- Keep some phone boards off the computer: mark them Private: only on this device.
- The computer's address changing breaks the connection now and then: ask your router for a fixed address for it (a "DHCP reservation"), or pick the right address in Settings > Phones & tablets.
